I was eagerly given a Pinguin plant by someone wanting to stop the plants from taking over their yard.  Knowing the mistake of the former owner I have mine growing in a pot.  The plant is difficult to distinguish from a pineapple plant.  The leaves are a little thicker and glossier than pineapple leaves.   The thorns on the pinguin are worse than the thorns on my variegated pineapple.   The plant has not bloomed for me yet, but it has already produced a sucker.  The plant produces a round quarter sized orange berry.  I can't describe the flavor since I have not had any fruits from my plant yet.
